The event took place around 12:48 p.m. when Noble was out on patrol on Old Yorktown Road at the intersection with Crompond Road when Max Bardach of Yorktown Heights ran the red light, nearly causing a traffic accident, said Lt. Tom Gentner.
The chief followed Bardach and watched as he took out his cell phone and began talking while driving. That's when Noble pulled over Bardach on Crompond Road near Yorktown Police headquarters.
An investigation during the stop revealed that Bardach was driving with a suspended license and was in possession of marijuana, Genter said.
Bardach was transported to the police station and charged with possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation, operating a vehicle while on a mobile phone, and running a red light.
Bardach was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Nov. 30.
