Greenburgh Becomes First Westchester Police Force Committed To Body Cam Use

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Town of Greenburgh has announced a plan to equip all police officers with body mounted cameras, making it the first law enforcement agency in Westchester County committed to do so.

Greenburgh police officers will begin wearing Taser Axon body cameras, according to the Greenburgh Police Department.

The police department recently completed a body camera pilot program, wherein they tested and evaluated three different body cameras for use by the force. With the support of the Greenburgh Town Board and police chief, the department decided to outfit all patrol officers with Taser Axon body cameras later this year.

"I believe that the Greenburgh Police Department will be the first law enforcement agency in Westchester that has formally committed to outfitting each patrol officer with their own individual Body Camera," said Town Supervisor Paul Feiner. "We are very excited about this initiative and look forward to this new chapter in policing and community relations."
