Funeral For Fire Victim, Mount Kisco Native Scheduled

MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- A wake and funeral has been arranged for Richard J. Delaney Jr., 39, the man who died at his home in Sunday's Mahopac Falls fire.

Thursday's funeral is at 10 a.m. at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home, 692 Route 6 in Mahopac. followed by burial a Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne.

Visitation is Wednesday, July 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 

Delaney was found dead in his home on Foxey Lane at about 4 a.m. Sunday, when police from Carmel and firefighters from Mahopac Falls arrived there for the fire. Paramedics' efforts to revive him outside were unsuccessful.

Delaney was born in Mount Kisco on March 20, 1977, the son of Richard and Mary Yantos Delaney.

He graduated from Mahopac High School in 1995 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance at SUNY Oswego. He was currently the Branch Manager at Chase Bank in Peekskill.

He has also tended bar for many years at the Red Mills Pub in Mahopac Falls, working for the Jedlicka family.

In addition to his parents of Summerfield, Fla.,, he is survived by his sister, Tracey Delaney and her husband John Wise of Sedona, Ariz.,, his brother John Delaney and his girlfriend Joanna Rose Petrizzo, his uncle John Yantos and his wife Jeannie, his nephew Quint Delaney Wise and his cousins Justine Boles and her family and Jessica Yantos.
