Foul Play Ruled Out In North Castle Hotel Incident

This update was posted Thursday afternoon.

ARMONK, N.Y. – North Castle Police have ruled out foul play in the case of a woman found unconscious at the La Quinta Inn, Business Park Drive in Armonk, according to Detective Brant Sammann.

"I today finally had a chance to speak with the individual and there were a lot of questions we had without answers to," Sammann said Wednesday. "And it was nothing of what we initially thought it could be."

Police responded to the hotel at around 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, after a caller reported that an Armonk woman in her 20s was found going in and out of consciousness. The woman was transferred to the Northern Westchester Hospital, police said. Hospital officials notified police at around 11:50 a.m. that the woman remained unconscious with multiple fresh bruises and hand marks on her body. They said a rape kit evaluation was being conducted, police said.

Sammann said no criminal charges will be filed in the incident, and he declined to comment further to protect the woman's privacy. Police Chief Robert D'Angelo said Wednesday the woman's bruises were likely caused accidentally by the emergency personnel who brought her to the hospital.
