The child’s mother called police about 4:45 p.m. and was told by a dispatcher that Armonk Garage would arrive at the car shortly, according to police.

The auto service worked on the car, eventually freeing the child, according to police, who reported that the child was in “good condition” immediately afterward.

When the mechanic asked for payment for the service, the woman told him that she couldn’t pay the bill, according to police.

The woman’s car was then towed to Armonk Garage, where it will be held until she can make payment arrangements, according to police.

Elsewhere in the town, police responded to a pair of incidents reported as “suspicious.”

Officers went to Windmill Road about 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 2 after a woman called to say that a suspicious car was parked in front of her home, police said.

When an officer arrived, he approached the car and soon determined that the driver was a resident on the street who had stopped to make a telephone call.

On Sunday, officers responded to a “suspicious incident’ report on Denim Place to find that a man was concerned about a neighbor who was shooting arrows near both of their homes, according to authorities.

A North Castle police officer reached the home after 7 p.m. and spoke to the man who had been shooting the arrows, according to police, who added the man was told of the local laws prohibiting him from firing the weapon in a residential area.
