Bear Sighting Tops North Castle Police Blotter

ARMONK, N.Y. – A resident of Ilana Court got an unwelcome visit from a bear on Monday, Nov. 23, North Castle police said.

North Castle police investigated a complaint from an Ilana Court resident who had spotted a bear digging through her garbage cans. The wayward woodland creature had fled the scene by the time police arrived.

The resident called police around 7:30 p.m. to report that the wayward bruin was digging through her garbage cans. It had absconded with its early Thanksgiving treats by the time police arrived at the scene.

In other items on the police blotter:

  • On Friday, Nov. 11, an employee of a shop on North Broadway called to report a suspicious man who had been walking around the store and its parking lot. He was describe as a white male, in his mid-20s, wearing a grey hoodie. Police responded, but the man had left the scene.
  • On Sunday, Nov. 22, police investigated a complaint from a Washington Avenue resident who said he had seen several youths on his property and had heard what sounded like fireworks.
