Westchester Native Dorothea Spano Dies At 33

Westchester native Dorothea Spano, who lived in the Dutchess County area since she was a child, died on Wednesday, Nov. 15. She was 33.

Dorothea, who lived in LaGrange, was born in Yonkers on Oct, 4, 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Olivia Grace; her parents, Leonard and Diane (Ciavarello) Spano of LaGrange; her sister, Gina Spano of LaGrange; her brother, Anthony Spano of LaGrange; her grandmothers, Dorothy Ciavarello and Cynthia Spano; 23 aunts and uncles; and 36 cousins.

Dorothea enjoyed being outdoors, and especially liked hiking, fishing, snowboarding, gardening, camping and campfires. She also liked to cook, and was a fan of astrology, the stars, and the galaxy. Most of all, she loved being a mommy, and Oliva Grace was her biggest joy in life.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
