Northern Westchester Resident, 23, Dies After Struggle With Addiction

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Samuel Alexander Bolen, 23, formerly of Chappaqua, and most recently of South Salem and White Plains, died on April 29 in San Clemente, Calif.

Bolen died after a struggle with addiction and seeking help in a rehabilitation center.

Born Nov. 18, 1992, Bolen attended Chappaqua schools, graduating from the Christa McAuliffe School of Arts and Sciences in 2012. He attended college at Westchester Community College and the University of Oregon.

Bolen was known for his love of reading, animals, adventure and making cookies with his grandmother.

He is survived by his mother and father Connie Plaehn and Ted Bolen; brother Cade Bolen; grandmother Darlene Plaehn;Toni Bolen; Bryant Bolen, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased in death by his grandfather Paul Plaehn, brother Kevin Thomas Bolen and Charlotte Bolen.

A celebration of his life will held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 20 at Gedney Park in the Town of New Castle.
