NEW CASTLE, N.Y. -- Joseph Nadol, 42, was one of two New Castle residents and six passengers who died in Tuesday's train crash.

Nadol lived in the West End of New Castle with an Ossining mailing address with his wife, Jen, an author, and their three children. His death was confirmed by New Castle Supervisor Robert Greenstein and The Hackley School in Tarrytown, which his three sons attend.

"Our hearts are broken by this tragic accident," Greenstein said.

Nadol worked at JP Morgan as a defense and aerospace analyst. Institutional Investor ranked Nadol as the No. 1 investor in the aerospace and defense electronics sector for six years in a row on its All American Research Team.

Defense News named Nadol one of the most influential people in U.S. defense in 2012.

In an email sent out by employees at J.P. Morgan and obtained by Institutional Investor, Nadol was described as a wonderful colleague.

Nadol "always took the time to mentor and encourage junior analysts," wrote Joyce Chang, Noelle Grainger and Nicholas Rosato. "He'll be remembered for his many personal qualities, especially his thoughtfulness toward co-workers and his sense of humor."

As an analyst, Nadol covered companies like Bombardier, Boeing and Lockheed Martin, according to Bloomberg Business. He was known for asking thoughtful and tough questions and for taking an independent stance, according to the Institutional Investor profile.

"Absolutely devastated at the news that my friend and colleague aerospace analyst Joe Nadol was killed in the Metro-North crash last night," Wall Street Journal reporter Jon Ostrower said on Twitter. "Joe was a mensch."

Before working at JP Morgan, Nadol was a real estate analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. He graduated from Harvard University in 1995 with a degree in business, according to Bloomberg.

According to his obituary, Nadol was a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan and had recently come back from Arizona where he attended the Super Bowl.

Nadol is survived by his wife, Jen, and his three sons, Joey, Sam and Jake.

A memorial service will be held for Nadol at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at First Congregational Church in Chappaqua.
