Elmblad was born on Nov. 7, 1951, to the late Robert B. Wooster and Kathleen C. Spence. She was raised in Harrison and attended the Rye Country Day School.

A highlight of Elmblad's youth was attending the 1965 Beatles' concert at Shea Stadium. Attending this concert exemplified a love for music that spanned and influenced her entire life, from the Beatles to supporting the local KAFM station in Grand Junction.

She moved west in 1975 to Steamboat Springs, Colo., working several jobs each day in order to enjoy the outdoors and the mountains.

Elmblad met her husband Bill in Steamboat and then moved with him to Boston, and then to Juneau, Alaska, to pursue his career as a fisheries biologist. They were married in 1981 and moved to Grand Junction in 1982.

“Kath” to her friends, Elmblad will be remembered for the spirit in her step and the sparkle in her voice.

She is survived her husband, Bill; daughters, Denise (Rick); Christina (Rob); Ashley, and three grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to KAFM www.kafmradio.org in Elmblad's honor.
