ARMONK, N.Y. – Caroline A. Merrill Trovato, formerly of Armonk, died Feb. 1 at Watch Hill Care and Rehab Facility in Westerly, R.I. She was 88.
Trovato was born May 19, 1924, in Hampton Falls, N.H., to Russell P. and Elizabeth Cutts Merrill. After graduating from Keene State College in 1946, she worked as a schoolteacher in Exeter, N.H.
She was a member of the Garden Club and the Women's Guild of St. Patrick's Church, both in Armonk. An avid reader and scrabble player, she enjoyed the beach and, most of all, her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Trovato Sr., in 2004.
Trovato is survived by four sons, Joseph (Anne) Trovato, of Stony Point, N.Y., George (Cate) Trovato Jr., of Dallas, Pa., Tony (Kathy) Trovato, of Nashville, Tenn., and Charles (Marie) Trovato, of Mahopac, N.Y., four daughters, Rosemary Buonocore, of Westerly, Liz (Charles Clough) Trovato, of Westerly, Angela (James) Verdon, of Wilmington, N.C., and Luisa (Ron) DiOrio, of New York City; a brother, George (Louise) Merrill, of Hampton Falls; a sister, Marjorie Davies, of Brentwood, N.H.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church in Armonk. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oelker-Cox and Sinatra Funeral Home in Mount Kisco.
