WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. The White Plains Central Westchester YWCA held its Valentines Day Carnival Family Fun Day Sunday afternoon, with 200 kids and parents enjoying a variety of games and crafts exhibits and a performance by the Bossy Frog Band.
Kids played Bongo Ball, Carnival Wheel and other games, made Valentines paper bag masks and enjoyed bake sale treats before the Bossy Frog Band concert started.
White Plains Mayor Tom Roach spoke briefly before the concert started. The YWCA is an important member of the community and serves so many people, he said.
Maria Imperial, the CEO of the White Plains YWCA, said the organization provides low income housing on North Broadway for 169 residents.
The Valentines Day Fun Day raised money for the YWCA to support our scholarship fund and provide quality programs for early childhood education, said Danielle Cylich, the director of development, who organized the event.
Ann Cohen, from Rockland County, who brought her 4-year-old daughter Angelina to the event, said they came to see the Bossy Frog Band. Theyre a big draw, she said.
Hiroko Sakamato, who brought her 10-year-old son Kazuki to the event, said, Were enjoying the activities here. Its lots of fun.
