This story has been updated.

Sports radio talk-show host Craig Carton, a native of New Rochelle, has been arrested on Federal charges stemming from an investment scam involving fake tickets in which he allegedly defrauded, according to multiple reports.

The 48-year-old Carton, who co-hosts the "Boomer and Carton" morning sports show on WFAN with former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, was taken into custody Wednesday morning by Federal agents at his Manhattan apartment.

Carton and another unnamed man ripped several investors off of a few million dollars, according to NBC New York, which reported Carton has been charged with securities fraud and wire fraud.

The $5.6 million scam was put in place in order to pay off Carton's gambling debts, according to the the New York Daily News which reported that court papers allege Carton ran up millions of dollars in losses with two casinos, plus a debt of $825,000 to an unidentified individual.

The "Boomer and Carton" show has been a highly rated mainstay on WFAN since 2007, when it filled the highly coveted morning drive spot that had been held by Don Imus, who was fired following remarks seen as racist and sexist aiming at the Rutgers women’s basketball team. The "Boomer and Carton" show is also simulcast on TV on the CBS Sports Network.

During his rise in broadcasting, Carton's influence has extended beyond sports. Talkers Magazine named him one of the top 100 Most Important and Influential Talk Show hosts in the U.S.

A married father of four, Carton said he has never forgotten his Westchester roots.

“I love New Rochelle,” Carton told Daily Voice in a 2014 interview. “I had a great childhood here. I never forgot where I came from. The fact that I can now come back and bring hundreds of people out to raise money for parks and rec and give a little bit back to New Rochelle, I’ll never say no. it’s awesome.”
