A letter sent to state Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli by the legislators – Majority Leader Catherine Borgia, D-Ossining, and Legislators Pete Harckham, D-North Salem, and Ken Jenkins, D-Yonkers – points out that a review process for financial statements of county officials was never put in place by County Executive Rob Astorino.
DiNapoli ordered that a review process be put in place in March 2010.
“While the Westchester County Board of Legislators put a review plan in place, unfortunately, nothing has changed four years later. In fact, it was revealed just last week that Westchester County Executive Astorino has been drawing outside income, and part of that income has come from a company that has received a $3.8 million county contract,” a statement in the letter reads.
“Additionally, although the Westchester County Board of Legislators enacted an overhaul of ethics procedures and put in place a review process for the financial disclosure statements of county officials, it has come to our attention that despite being provided with the funding, the county executive’s office never implemented the plan,” the letter continues.
