According to the state police, neither man knew each other before the fatal road rage incident in which Christian Walczyk, 21, of Pleasant Valley, stabbed Daniel Siino, 28, of Hartsdale to death near mile marker 6.6 in Mount Pleasant.
The City of Poughkeepsie Police did know Walczyk a 2014 graduate of Arlington High School, who was arrested last week for disorderly conduct outside of a local bar for creating a disturbance, said City of Poughkeepsie Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
On the night of the road-rage incident, state police said they responded to a call for help around 10:30 p.m., to an Acura sport utility vehicle parked along the highway in Mount Pleasant, where they found Siino, stabbed in the chest. A passenger was trying to render aid, but Siino was later pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center, said Trooper Melissa McMorris, spokesperson for the state police.
Walczyk, who fled the scene in his dark-colored BMW sedan, also called 911. He was caught nearby and charged with first-degree manslaughter. He is being held without bail at the Westchester County Jail, state police said.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Walczyk is a screenwriter/video editor who attended the Universiy of Vermont.
State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the vehicles before or after the encounter to call the state police at 914-769-2600.
