A 46-year-old bank employee from Westchester is facing up to 20 years in prison after thousands of images containing child pornography were found at his home, Joon H. Kim, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Angel M. Melendez, the Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in New York City announced Wednesday.

Anupam Biswas distributed child pornography in January from a computer in Briarcliff Manor and possessed child pornography in February, according to the complaint was presented before U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith C. McCarthy in White Plains Federal Court.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office’s High Technology Crime Squad, using investigative software, downloaded child pornography from the IP address in Westchester in January. On Feb.17, the crime squad executed a search warrant of Biswas' address in Westchester. Biswas was present and identified two external hard drives as belonging to him, the complaint said. The crime squad seized several digital items, including a Western Digital Hard Drive that was found to contain thousands of images and videos of child porn.

Biswas has been charged with one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on each of the two charged counts.

Biswast is employed in the IT department of a foreign bank located in Newark.

Kim praised the efforts of Homeland Security Investigations, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the Westchester District Attorney’s Office’s High Technology Crime Squad, and the Briarcliff Manor Police Department.

The prosecution is being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division. Assistant United States Attorney Marcia S. Cohen is in charge of the prosecution.
