WCC Gala To Honor Hankin, Raise Scholarship Funds

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – On Wednesday, Westchester Community College will celebrate the 40-year anniversary of its president, Dr. Joseph Hankin, with a festival at the Gateway Center in Valhalla.

After being named president of WCC in 1971, Hankin is currently the longest serving community college president in the nation. The festival will be held not only to celebrate Hankin’s time at Westchester Communty College, but to also raise money for student scholarships. The college hopes to raise over $600,000 in scholarship money, and expects about 400 attendees. All gifts made will be contributed to a special fund in honor of Hankin and then will be matched by a group of donors.

The festival will be highlighted by exhibits from students, musical performances, and food provided by Abigail Kirsch catering. The event is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. and remarks will be made at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $200 either before the event, or at the door.
