ARMONK, N.Y.- The 5.9 earthquake that hit Virginia just before 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon was felt in North Castle Town Hall.
North Castle assistant Court Clerk Nancy Hall said she remembers feeling an earthquake when she was a little girl, but this one really startled her.
All I was thinking was, am I feeling what I think Im feeling, Hall said. I was literally shaking in my chair.
Hall said that immediately after the quake hit many of the Town Hall employees went outside to see if anyone else around town had felt the same sensation they had.
About a half-hour after the quake hit the North Castle Police Department fielded a call from a woman in North White Plains who could feel the tremors while she was sitting at her kitchen table. That was the only call the Police Department had received about the earthquake to that point.
