Town Starts Bidding Process For Rebuilding Armonk Gazebo

ARMONK, N.Y. -- The North Castle Town Board voted on Wednesday to have the town go out to bid for the rebuilding of the gazebo at Wampus Brook Park.

There are several documents involved for the bidding, according to Town Administrator Joan Goldberg.

“They’re quite comprehensive,” Goldberg said in her report at the board meeting.

The town administrator also offered an anticipated timeline for the rebuilding. She hopes to have the Town Board award a bid at its second meeting in April, with construction work to start on May 1.

The work will not be complete in time for the first summer concert in July, according to Goldberg, although she still expects the gazebo to be usable for it.

The new gazebo is a replacement of the old one, which was destroyed in summer 2014 when its roof collapsed. Ironically, maintenance work was slated to take place on it.

In January, the board approved a measure to make the new gazebo friendly to disabled visitors, which involves raising the elevation near the structure.

Supervisor Michael Schiliro previously told Daily Voice that the rebuilt gazebo will use the previous design but that it will incorporate modern material.
