WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was two years ago that Superstorm Sandy made landfall in New Jersey and caused billions of dollars in damage in Westchester County and throughout the Tri-State region.

As bad as Sandy was, insurance provider Swiss Re says it could have been worse and everyone needs to do more to prepare for "the Big One."

In 1821 a hurricane more powerful than Superstorm Sandy made landfall along the East Coast and brought winds exceeding 156 mph to places like New York, Boston and Washington, D.C. While losses were minimal at the time due to the smaller populations in these cities, Swiss Re estimates another storm of this magnitude could bring more than $100 billion in damages with an economic impact closer to $150 billion.
