Former Armonk Resident Sadove Named To AmeriCares Board

STAMFORD, Conn. – Stephen I. Sadove, retired Saks Inc. chairman and chief executive officer, was recently elected to the AmeriCares board of directors. Sadove is a resident of Purchase, N.Y., and has a great deal of experience in retail and marketing of consumer products. He also has board experience with several companies and nonprofit organizations.

Sadove, a former Armonk resident who started with Saks in 2002 as a vice chairman, served as chairman and chief executive officer from 2007-13. He had previously worked in senior executive leadership with General Foods USA and Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co.

While at Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Sadove helped rise Clairol to the top hair care business in the U.S., re-launched Herbal Essences brand and helped it become a $700 million business and finished off the sale of the business to Proctor & Gamble, for about $5 billion. Sadove was co-founder of Traub Accelerator, which is a division of Marvin Traub Associates, a retail consulting firm.

Currently, Sadove is chairman of the Hamilton College board of trustees and chairman of the National Retail Federation. He is on the boards of Aramark, Colgate-Palmolive, JCPenney and Ruby Tuesday. He earned a degree from Hamilton College and earned an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. He was given an honorary doctor of commercial science degree from LIM College.

The AmeriCares board of directors leads and organizes the group’s global health programs. Disaster response work and deliveries to hospitals and health clinics that are low on resources are among the duties AmeriCares executes. Through these deliveries, 14 million prescriptions have been filled, serving patients in 91 countries, including the U.S.
