RYE, N.Y. -- Paul Greenhaw just moved with his wife and four children to Rye from Eastchester and brought three of his kids to their first fireworks show at Playland .
"At their age, I just tell them it's a good day to celebrate America and where we live," said Greenhaw, who sat on the grass with his two daughters and son in Rye Town Park, where the fireworks at Playland could be seen up close.
Greenhaw and his family came from Eastchester and decided to move to Rye for "the community and the schools." He said it was also nice to be closer to the water and was actually able to walk with his children over to the park from his house.
"Looking at all the traffic coming in, I was really glad I didn't have to drive," he said.
Greenhaw's wife had to stay at home because their three-year-old son was sleeping, but she will have many more opportunities to view fireworks this summer. Playland will be putting on fireworks displays every Wednesday and Friday through September 2.
