The shooting occurred late in the afternoon on Aqueduct Avenue near McLean Avenue, just east of I-87 and south of Hillview Reservoir.

After the suspect, who was believed to be armed and who was under surveillance, got in his car, he tried to flee when officers attempted to arrest him, hitting multiple police vehicles, according to ABC 7.

Witnesses then reported hearing multiple shots ring out, the report said.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was then taken to a hospital, where he later died, the FBI said.

It was not revealed whether the agent or officer fired the fatal shot.

The FBI said no one else was injured in the shooting, and there is no threat to public safety.
