A registered "sexually violent" sex offender accused of a pair of attempted rape charge has reported an address change in Northern Westchester.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Friday to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 42-year-old Eric Lewenstein, who was previously listed as homeless but now has reported a move to a home on Hickory Lane in Bedford.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Lewenstein as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Lewenstein attempted to rape two female adults in 1997. He was arrested by the New York City Police Department Sex Offender Unit and convicted of two counts of attempted rape in 2002. Lewenstein was sentenced to between 27 and 78 months in state prison and is now under the jurisdiction of the Town of Bedford Police Department.
