Police Release Video of Armed Robbery Suspect

THORNWOOD, N.Y. – The Westchester County Police, along with the Mount Pleasant and Elmsford Police departments, are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with armed robberies at two gas stations in Mount Pleasant and Elmsford.

Police Wednesday released surveillance footage of the suspect, hoping local residents will be able to identify the suspect in the footage.

“Any armed robbery is of serious concern to law enforcement in Westchester,” said Westchester Public Safety Commissioner George Longworth in a press release.  “This person was particularly brazen, committing two gunpoint robberies within 30 minutes.”

According to a statement released by the county police, the robberies occurred during the early hours of March 1. Westchester Police say the suspect, described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, first entered a Sunoco station on Marble Avenue in Thornwood around 3 a.m. wielding a gun while wearing ski mask. According to police, the man then entered a Gulf station on West Main Street in Elmsford around 3:30 a.m. without the ski mask on and paid for gas and a pack of gum. After returning to his car, police say the man changed his sweatshirt and put the ski mask back on and robbed the station at gun point.

In the 47-second surveillance video released by police, the man is seen in both stations ordering the worker behind the counter to empty the cash out of the register while holding a gun that is wrapped in a plastic bag.  Police did not release an amount of money the man stole as the investigation is ongoing.

Westchester Police say the man fled both scenes in a red Jeep Liberty with gold New York license plates and a spare tire attached to the back.
