Pleasantville Man Arrested For DWI in Armonk

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Pleasantville resident Jacob Bailin, 20, was arrested at 2:50 a.m. Saturday morning after New Castle Police responded to a car accident at 59 Whippoorwhill Crossing in Armonk. According to police, Bailin crashed his vehicle into a tree and then took off on foot to find help. Officers said Bailin was located on foot nearby.

When the police apprehended him, Bailin allegedly admitted to operating the vehicle and said he was walking to get assistance. New Castle Police said Bailin was intoxicated and charged him with driving while under the influence, having a blood alcohol level greater than .08, and exceeding the legal limit.

The following report was also reported by the New Castle Police Department:

At 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, a customer reportedly left the A&P at 230 Saw Mill River Road in Millwood with $120 worth of groceries without paying. According to police reports, the manager approached the suspect but he wouldn’t listen and fled, leaving a passenger behind in his car. The A&P manager reportedly called the police, who searched but ultimately had the passenger call the suspect. Police said the man returned promptly with the groceries, gave them back to the manager and the manager declined to take any further action.
