WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A former Navy SEAL is casting doubt on yet another claim made by suspended NBC news anchor Brian Williams, according to the New York Post.
Brandon Webb told the New York Post he has serious doubts about a claim Brian Williams made about being embedded with SEAL Team Six during the Iraq War. Williams made the claim just days after the elite unit killed Osama bin Laden, the Post reported.
Webb said SEAL teams traditionally don't like to have journalists embedded within their units, and that he couldn't recall any journalist being assigned to SEAL Team Six, the Post said.
CNN went on to say NBC is investigating claims Williams made about blessed by Pope John Paul II in 1979 when he was student at Catholic University.
NBC suspended Williams for six months without pay after he lied about being in a helicopter that fell under fire during the Iraq War.
