Obama Declares Westchester A Disaster Area

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – President Barack Obama declared Westchester County a disaster area Friday, making it eligible for federal aid in the recovery from Hurricane Sandy.

“This is important information for all of those in our county who have been devastated by Sandy,” County Executive Robert Astorino said. “We will continue to share information as we get it. In the meantime, I urge people to register with FEMA.”

If you have unreimbursed losses from the hurricane, you must register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to qualify for federal aid. Register online, on your smartphone or by calling 1-800-621-3362. Those with a speech disability or hearing loss who use TTY should call 1-800-462-7585. Those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS) can call 1-800-621-3362.

Further information will be posted on the Westchester County website as it becomes available.

That was a pathetic phenomena. After a natural devastation hits, it seems that every little thing is chaotic for a time while things are being restored. Anything must get back to normal eventually, including jobs, but for now, a cash advance can help. Even after a disaster happens, the bills still have to get paid and individuals still need to purchase food. Make sure you have the money to do so. Find out more at: Payday Loan

Are you kidding me....Obama made his appearance in NJ then went off campaigning ......where is FEMA...where is the help.....anyone who thinks he's doing a good job has got to be kidding themselves. He is NOT concerned right now about the people on the east coast only being elected. He assumes he has these states locked up regardless of the storm so why bother to spend time here.

The link has been corrected. Thank you for pointing this out.

Thanks to you for keeping the community informed - especially important in this crisis situation.

I guess we are lucky this is an election week or he would be playing golf in Hawaii. Remember that he never went to the heartland of this country when they were hit with tornados and floods not to long ago.

SugarMag55:

First of all, Obama DID tour the midwest after the tornadoes. Second, you must have your power on because you're obviously listening to Faux News. Third, I believe Obama has spent much less time playing golf than Bush spent "clearing bush" from his ranch. I can't wait until Tuesday when we re-elect President Obama and get rid of Nan Hayworth --- by the way, where IS Nan Hayworth?????

teevoz:

What is wrong with you? If Chris Christie -one of the most partisan politicians around - could rise above it and actually see that President Obama is genuinely helping our region, what is your problem? Go peddle this crap on some knee-jerk right-wing blog, or call Limbaugh. People here are hurting and trying to help one another - as is the President.

dleighg:

the link to FEMA is bad. It should be http://www.disasterassistance.gov/

teevoz:

Thanks - I had tried that but it didn't work either. Working now though.

teevoz:

The link to FEMA does not work - please fix!
