The land, which sits at the southwest corner of Maple Avenue and Bedford Road and across from Wampus Brook Park, saw most of its trees destroyed by Superstorm Sandy, according to The Examiner News.

Plans call for the site to have two main lawn areas, an interior path running along the Wampus River, LED lighting and parking for about 20 vehicles, according to The Examiner News.

After the March 21 vote, officials said the land would look "cleaner" and "greener" than it currently appears.

Officials expect the project will be completed by spring 2017, according to The Examiner News.
