Town Supervisor Michael Schiliro spoke, and the small crowd welcomed Congresswoman Nita Lowey, who also spoke about never forgetting the events that unfolded 15 years ago.

"It a significant day in our country, so many lives were lost," Schiliro told Daily Voice. "And so many first responder lives were also lost. I believe that's something we should never forget. It should be recognized every year - and not just the ones who were lost, but the ones who still fight for us, and protect us on a daily basis. We should never lose appreciation for what they do for a living."
