With tax season under way, Gov. Andrew Cuomo took to Twitter recently to remind those New York residents who qualify to take advantage of the state's 85 free tax assistance sites.
The sites, part of a program begun in 2014, will offer 1,200 free tax sessions this year, a 600 percent increase over two years ago, according to the governor's office.
The program is open to all New Yorkers making $62,000 or less. Volunteers with the state's Department of Taxation and Finance will guide those attending the free, 1-hour session through the process of electronically filing state and federal taxes.
