ARMONK, N.Y.- In the days after Hurricane Irene struck Westchester County, North Castle residents and businesses have joined in the effort to help those in need.
North Castle Citizens Corps Council (NC4) member Eileen Joy responded to a post on The Daily Armonk's Facebook Page thanking everyone that has provided any kind of support since the weekend.
Many individuals and businesses have been helping NC4 and we would like to thank them for their assistance, Joy said.
The Gym for opening up their showers to all NC residents; the A&P for offering their employee discount to make purchases for the shelter; Beascakes for donating delicious treats; Byram Hills School District employees for helping us set up the shelter; and the employees at the Hergenhan Rec Center for their assistance this week. Much appreciation to all!
The shelter at the Hergenhan Recreation Center, set up by NC4, is scheduled to stay open as long as the power outages remain in North Castle.
