The results, which are from the Westchester County Board of Elections, show that Mezzancello received 1,835 votes to 1,813 for Democrat José Berra.

The results were updated due to the addition to absentee and affidavit ballots, which were counted on Friday, Nov. 14, according to the Board of Elections. Earlier results, which were prior to the other ballots' addition, gave a slim lead for Berra, which then flipped to a narrow lead for Mezzancello.

Berra was appointed to the Town Board to fill the vacancy when Michael Schiliro became supervisor. The special election was for filling out to the remainder of the seat's term. The seat will be up for a regular election next November.

Mezzancello is currently a member of the North Castle Planning Board.

Reached for comment, Mezzancello held off on declaring victory because he wants to wait for the results to be certified. A certification of results, which will make them official, will take place later this month, according to the Board of Elections.

Berra could not be reached for comment.
