Metro-North Adjusts Hudson, Harlem Trains For July 4 And 5

WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – To deal with extra commuters for Independence Day festivities, Metro-North is running its Thursday, July 4 trains on a Sunday schedule with additional trains for the Macy’s Fireworks.  On Friday, July 5, the trains will follow a Saturday schedule with some extra service.

For commuters heading into Westchester on the Hudson Line, extra "getaway" trains will depart from Grand Central at:

  • 1:45 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Tarrytown, Ossining and Croton-Harmon.
  • 1:48 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stops between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie.
  • 2:45 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Tarrytown, Ossining and Croton-Harmon.
  • 2:48 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stops between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie.
  • 3:12 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Tarrytown, Ossining and Croton-Harmon.
  • 3:46 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street and Croton-Harmon.

The following Hudson Line trains usually departing Grand Central will not operate:

  • The 5:29 p.m. train to Poughkeepsie will not operate.
  • The 5:57 p.m. to Croton-Harmon will not operate.
  • The 6:12 p.m. to Poughkeepsie will not operate.
  • The 6:19 p.m. to Croton-Harmon will not operate.

Notably, the Haverstraw–Ossining Ferry will have an early ferry trip that will meet the 2:51 p.m. train from Grand Central, which arrives Ossining at 3:48 p.m.  Since the 5:57 p.m. and 6:19 p.m. trains will not operate, a 6 p.m. train from Grand Central, which arrives Ossining at 6:50 p.m., will be met by the ferry.

For commuters heading into Westchester on the Harlem Line, extra "getaway" trains will depart from Grand Central at:

  • The 2:18 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stations between Scarsdale and North White Plains.
  • The 3:14 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then White Plains and North White Plains only.
  • the 3:37 p.m., stopping at Harlem-125th Street, White Plains, then all stations between Goldens Bridge through Southeast.

The following Harlem Line trains usually departing Grand Central will not operate or will make additional stops:

  • The 5:25 p.m. to Brewster will not operate.
  • The 7:00 p.m. to North White Plains will not operate.
