Instead of having one individual, the role will be shared by resident Sharon Tomback and the North Castle Historical Society as a group.

The co-historians succeed Doris Finch Watson, who died in December.

Tomback is a 30-year resident of Banksville and previously worked as secretary for two town supervisors, Reese Berman and William Weaver.

Speaking before the town board, Tomback noted there is precedent for having a group serve in such a post, as the Westchester County Historical Society has been the county's historian for years.

Tomback also mentioned having items on display as a factor.

“But when items come into town we want them to be displayed at the historical society and open for everyone to see.”
