Mitchell admitted to smuggling hacksaw blades, chisels, a punch tool and a screwdriver into the prison for David Sweat and Richard Matt. The subsequent manhunt cost New York State $23 million in overtime costs alone, WPTZ.com reported.

Authorities shot and killed Matt during the manhunt on June 26. Sweat was shot and wounded two days later. He is already serving life in prison without parole.
