Town officials, including Schiliro and Town Administrator Joan Goldberg, gave a status update at the North Castle Town Board’s July 9 work session and in interviews. At a board meeting last month, Goldberg announced that the gazebo’s roof collapsed.
A group of people, including Goldberg, will be involved, according to Schiliro.
The town also has the original plans, Schiliro confirmed, which were available from several people.
While the rebuilding will involve replication, improvements also are being considered. Schiliro mentioned lighting and sound as examples, along with using material not available when the gazebo was constructed. The gazebo was built in 1967, according to Ed Woodyard, who was at the Town Board’s meeting and among those who possessed plan information about the gazebo.
