I-684 Roadwork Causes Delays for Armonk Drivers

Ongoing roadwork and paving activities along I-684 caused heavy traffic for drivers headed southbound Tuesday afternoon, backing up into Armonk.

Cones closed off the left two lanes, causing cars to back up at the merge.

Bob Silverstein was driving southbound through Armonk to work in Harrison in the morning and said the lane closures made him late.

"I can understand that sometimes, roads need work. But it seems like it's every day with this sort of thing lately," he said.

The renovations are part of a series of ramp and lane closures occurring throughout the week, according to New York Department of Transportation.

According to a travel advisory, paving activities will be ongoing until Friday, leading to various lane and ramp closures north and southbound on interstate exits one and two between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily.

The advisory also said the exit and entrance ramps for the northbound exit two, Route 120 will be closed Wednesday and Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. A signed detour will be in place.
