SCARSDALE, N.Y. By any standard, the past four months have hardly passed for winter in Westchester. Indeed snowfall in many villages and towns has been better measured with a micrometer than a ruler.
Now Mother Nature is weighing in. Buds are appearing on some trees in Scarsdale. There are even reports of crocuses pushing their way into the sunlight, taking a leap of faith this leap year that the threat of prolonged frigid conditions has passed us by.
Temperatures pushed past the mid-50s Monday, but are scheduled to dip back to the low 40s Tuesday before cold, wet weather makes a cameo appearance Wednesday. The National Weather Service is calling for snow between 10 a.m. and noon, with no accumulation before changing to rain. Highs are expected to be around 40. That's when the mercury starts to climb, with Saturday's early forecast calling for temps back up in the 50s.
