ARMONK, N.Y. -- Armonk is becoming a hub for great art in Westchester.

Sam Morell has recently formed the North Castle Arts Council to enrich lives and raise the quality of life in the town.

"We want to present an array of exceptional and diverse arts experiences and connecting to them to our community," Morell said. "We seek to nurture a vibrant arts community, foster artistic excellence, and bring people together for powerful shared experiences."

Armonk has seen many theater groups formed in the community including Small Town Theatre Company, The Armonk Players, The Hudson Stage Company, Standing Ovations and Theatre Arts Workshop.

"We want to create synergy, efficiency and support among the existing entities," Morell said. "There's got to be a way we can coordinate and support and promote each other.

Morell said the NCAC will also help underutilized town facilities like Whippoorwill Hall by attracting quality programs outside of Armonk.

An idea Morell had include a subscription package where someone could buy tickets to multiple theater groups. Theater groups could share equipment with each other and other also share volunteers.

"We want to let the community be aware of what we are doing to enrich or enhance the lifestyle within the town of North Castle," Morell said.

Morell said it is amazing how many theater groups are in Armonk.

"I don't know how many small towns have five different performing arts groups," Morell said. "We have a wealth of talent and culture in this town. There are so many wonderful restaurants. Armonk is becoming a destination spot. You can park once, go dine and then see a concert or a show. You get a full value for what the hamlet has to offer."

Morell said by building up Armonk's arts scene, they are contributing to the sales tax and helping merchants.

"We're making everybody happy," Morell said. "We are enriching the lifestyle and making people want to live in this town."
