ARMONK, N.Y. - The North Castle Police Department reported that the Greenburgh police responded to an attempted armed robbery on Knollwood Road, Valhalla, on Dec. 19 and picked up a suspect who had fled from the scene and was carrying a handgun.
The suspect was a white male, wearing gray sweatpants and a black hat and operating a Nissan Sentra. He fled into the Westchester Community College campus and was picked up by the Greenburgh police in a wooded area.
The Greenburgh police reported he was in custody but provided no further details.
In other North Castle police blotter news, officers reported they received a call about an "unknown type of problem" on Dec. 14 that led them to Barbara Bailey Smith on 441 Bedford Road, Armonk, who was highly intoxicated. She was picked up by an ambulance and taken to Northern Westchester Hospital.
Also on Dec. 14, a North Castle police officer was traveling north on Old Orchard Street in North White Plains when a deer ran out of the woods and struck the passenger side of the front door. The deer fled the scene and ran back into the wooded area. The officer was not injured and no damage to the car was reported.
On Dec. 15, a domestic dispute between a mother and daughter was reported at 4 Redbrooke Place, Armonk. Kelly Wietsma and her daughter Caitlin were allegedly involved in a verbal dispute and two men intervened to prevent a physical altercation, police said. Caitlin went downstairs and kicked a hole in the hallway wall, but the men declined to press charges against her for damaged property.
