Controversy ensued after Town Clerk Anne Curran sent an email on Sept. 3 that informed the public that a board majority decided to show the funeral on NCTV, the report said. Supervisor Howard Arden sent an email the next day criticizing Curran, saying “deliberately mischaracterizing the nature of our discussions” and accusing her of politicizing the situation, the report said.
Curran reportedly denied having a political agenda and said the email was intended to inform town residents, in accordance with her job as town clerk, according to the Examiner News.
The funeral will be scheduled to run on NCTV daily at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. for about two weeks, the report said. It will also be in the video archives on the town’s web site, as well.
Rebecca "Becky" Kittredge was a former eight-term council member and deputy supervisor. She died Sunday, Aug. 25 at the age of 69.
