VALHALLA, N.Y. - Ned Gelfars of Hastings walked on stilts while children watched him juggle and joke while entertainers from Magical Memories Entertainment twisted and designed balloons while families lined up for their turn. These events and more were only the beginning of what brought hundreds of Westchester residents to the annual Kenisco Dam Music Festival at Kenisco Dam Plaza on Sunday night.
"We come here every year," White Plains resident Jeanette Woloszynek said while in company of her friends in American flag-influenced outfits. "I love the music. I love the food."
What was most important, however, was the 9:15 p.m. grand finale fireworks show above the dam.
"The fireworks are the absolute best," Woloszynek said.
Music filled the field throughout the evening from the pre-concert entertainment with classic hits band The Wanderers at 6 p.m. and the Gerard Carelli Orchesta at 8 p.m.
Admission to the event was free. It was presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by TheDailyWestchester.net with assistance from radio station 100.7 WHUD and the Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc.
The Kensico Dam Plaza is located at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway in Valhalla.
