Buyer Announced for Armonk's Ehrman Pool

ARMONK, N.Y. – North Castle Town Board member John Cronin announced Friday that an operating agreement between North Castle Pool and Tennis and the Anita Louise Ehrman Pool has been reached, which allows North Castle Pool and Tennis to operate the pool as details of its sale to North Castle Pool and Tennis are worked out.

The pool, which had been mired in financial problems since it was reconstructed for $3 million in 2006, is now scheduled to open for Memorial Day weekend.

Joseph DiMauro, chairman of the North Castle Recreation Advisory Board, and a principal and chief executive officer of Clark Dodge Asset Management, operates North Castle Pool and Tennis and is the buyer of the pool, as disclosed in the ALE Board memorandum sent to pool bond holders.

The purchase of the pool by a private buyer relieves the town from buying the pool, which would have required a town referendum that may not have passed and would have taken several months, which may have prevented the pool from opening this summer.

Cronin also said the bid for the North Castle Recreation Department's Summer Camp swimming program that is held at the pool was received and will be awarded to the pool this week.

Chris Yaroscak, the chairman of the Ehrman pool, declined to comment on the sale. But the pool board announced a fee structure for the upcoming season, including a $500 charge for seniors. When a resident complained about the rate at the last town board meeting, Cronin said he would speak with the new owner to see if it can be reduced to $100.
