ARMONK, N.Y. The Brynwood Golf and Country Club will present its plans to build a residential community and redesign the club at an open house Thursday at 8 p.m.
The club withdrew a proposal for the condominium development to the town board last year due to public concerns about its size and traffic congestion from Windmill Road residents, according to John Cronin, a town board member .
The initial plan called for 246 condominiums, but it has been scaled back to 123. The club also has plans for a smaller clubhouse and banquet facility. It eliminated plans for hotel rooms and reduced the number of parking spaces.
It remains to be seen whether the public will approve the new plans.
They made an effort to make the project more palatable for residents, but I dont know if theyve done enough, Cronin said.
The owner, developer and their consultant will give a presentation of plans at the open house, according to Dean Bender, a public relations executive who works for the club. All residents are welcome to attend the open house.
We intend to conduct a vigorous community outreach program before formally submitting our plan to the town, said Jeffrey Mendell, a principal in Brynwood who lives in North Castle. Once the plan is formally submitted to the town, it will be subject to a full New York State-mandated environmental review process.
The open house will be held at Brynwood Golf & Country Club, 568 Bedford Road, Armonk with a second event scheduled for March 4 at 3 p.m.
