WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Temperatures across much of Westchester County are expected to fall below freezing late Sunday night and remain at those levels into Monday, possibly causing travel problems for the morning commute, the National Weather Service.

Any standing water on roadways will begin to freeze, making patchy black ice likely, especially on secondary and untreated roads as well as on bridges and overpasses, particularly in Northern Westchester.

Motorists should be prepared for changing road conditions late Sunday and into Monday morning.

The forecast for Monday calls for mostly sunny skies with a high between 32 and 34 degrees, but with temperatures falling through the day, to a low in the mid 20s by 5 p.m.

New Year's Eve will be partly sunny with a high between 32 and 35 degrees.

New Year's Day will be cloudy with a slight chance of snow in the afternoon and a high around 30.
