The scholarship is given in honor of Marty McGuire of Putnam County, who died in a car accident in 2007. McGuire was an active and enthusiastic young birder filled with a love of nature.

“It is critical that we cultivate the next generation of conservation scientists. Investing in young people fosters tomorrow’s leaders — the people that will make breakthrough discoveries and create the public policies to further protect habitat and natural resources,” says Janelle Robbins, executive director of Bedford Audubon. “I look forward to receiving many wonderful applications for the Marty McGuire Scholarship.”

  • The student is currently participates or previously participated in community service related to conservation; and the scholarship may be used to support those endeavors.
