WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Roads are slippery as snow continues to fall in Westchester into Wednesday night, and County Executive Rob Astorino asks residents to err on the side of caution during the nor’easter and remain inside Wednesday night.

The Westchester County Emergency Operations Center remains fully activated, as it has been since opening in response to Hurricane Sandy.

“The same rules that applied to Sandy apply to this storm,” Astorino said. “I urge residents to use common sense and err on the side of caution. Sandy claimed three lives in Westchester, and every precaution should be taken to ensure public safety. It’s best to stay indoors tonight. Any residents who remain without power should consider taking shelter with friends or relatives or in their local community warming shelter.”

Increased manpower from Consolidated Edison and New York State Electric & Gas from outside of the county will help to restore power in Westchester during the nor’easter. Additional manpower will come from county Department of Public Safety officers, who are working 12-hour shifts for emergency responses on county parkways and in local municipalities as needed.
