Armonk's Breezemont Seeks Rezoning For Expansion

ARMONK, N.Y. -- Breezemont Day Camp, located off Cox Avenue, has requested a zoning change that could permit expansion of its facilities and force the North Castle Town Board to include parameters regulating camps into the municipality's code, according to a report by The Examiner.

Breezemont has operated in town since 1932, before the town's zoning code was written, the report said. However, because of the camp's zoning status there is no process to make significant changes or additions, the report said.

If the Town Board approves, Breezemont would be able to obtain a special-use permit to make changes to its camp that are currently prohibited, the report said.

There are no current plans for expansion of Breezemont, but special events such as birthday parties and bar mitzvah celebrations by local companies and organizations may require a permit, the report said.

The item is expected to be placed on the Wednesday, Jan. 14, Town Board meeting agenda.
