ARMONK, N.Y. -- A fledgling Armonk restaurant is getting national exposure.
Bowls Hand Crafted Salads and Soups was being filmed for a commercial Friday by its supplier US Foods.
The commercial will be used for US Foods' internal and external marketing.
"We use a lot of their premium products," Lesher, a Pleasantville resident, said. "They chose my brand as an up and coming business."
Like the name suggests, Bowls Hand Crafted Salads and Soups offers a variety of different soups and salads, including salads wrap and burritos. Lesher, who has run ice cream stores and a bar and grill, hopes to turn the restaurant into a franchise.
"I want to open stores and build a company," Lesher said. "I want to turn this into a brand and provide healthy meals."
Lesher said the restaurant has been "rocking" since it opened and US Foods took notice.
"They notice how we buy super quality products from them," Lesher said.
Bowls Hand Crafted Salads and Soups also uses chicken from Bell and Evans that is freshly cooked each day. Offering the finest ingredients means everything to Lesher.
"I want our customers to see and smell the freshness," Lesher said. "I don't buy our products three to four days out. We get deliveries every single day and we prep and cook it."
Lesher said it is important to be a part of the community and Bowls Handcrafted Salads and Soups regularly supports the Byram Hills School District. Calories are also included for each item even though it's not required.
"We see that people appreciate it," Lesher said. "People are on diets or on Weight Watchers. They can come in and know what they are allotted for today. It helps them put their lunch together."
The look of the store was designed by an interior designer and Lesher's wife, who went to FIT.
"We wanted to get a certain look and feel," Lesher said. "We wanted people to feel comfortable when they walk in. Promote a super clean healthy environment."
Bowls Hand Crafted Salads and Soups is located in Armonk Square at 402 Main Street.
